Adventurous story about a boy following his dreams and listening to his heart. This book didn't have any direct statements of how to follow dreams, how to succeed etc. It inspires only if we read it just not like a story but connect each step to our real life.
This book can be a good companion for those who wants to make book reading a habit.
Key takeaways from Ikigai:
How to stay young while growing old? What adds up to a long and happy life? How to find our purpose and flow in everything we do? What are traditions for happiness and longevity? How to not let stress and worry age us?
Put efforts to discover your ikigai. Once you discover it, pursue it and nurture it everyday to bring meaning to your life. Keep busy by doing things that fill you with happiness. Maintain the intuition and curiosity to be connected with your ikigai. Most importantly keep yourself surrounded by the people who love you.
The quick and easy way to effective speaking by Dale Carnegie
15 mins before choosing to read this book, I thought: Do some principles mentioned in the book really make me speak effectively? How can that happen? I believe that only practice and experiencing the frightful situation on the stage will make us improve ourselves but not by reading the principles. I was a coward in my childhood, but by putting ourselves into challenging situations only can we improve. So I did. And later I loved it. I never read a book like this one till now but I could confidently deliver a talk in front of UG, PG students and my peer colleagues. Each time the teaching excellence awards were planned by my organisation, I received the award. (Thanks to my director for the honest evaluation of the marks through the strategic formula which fueled me with great satisfaction that I did a good job).
BUT. BUT..
Without reading such books, Can I speak with the same confidence in front of a huge crowd? Can I speak instantaneously on any random topic in front of people who I don't know? Can I speak with the same confidence in front of a group of intellectuals? YES of course. Why not? I have to go through the situation, experience it, make mistakes, improve myself and do better next time. After this series, some time later I can be a great speaker.
BUT. BUT..
I would have lost many of my chances to influence and impress people and time doesn’t come back. So I chose - Do it well first time rather than next time. In the first chapter itself, the author mentioned - “Practice will wear away your audience fright and give you self confidence. All you have to do is co-operate - follow the suggestions in this book, apply them in every speaking situation and persevere”. This built the Trust between me and the author, continued reading it and completed it in only a week.

Book 4 of #malvi21bookschallenge
Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki
This book was not on my list. It was a gift to Vinod. I thought I had nothing to do with it because I am a very normal woman, not into handling finances at any point of my life. But the title grabbed my attention and I read the first chapter. First chapter made me more interested in the book not just because of money lessons but because I wanted to see how Robert perceived lessons of his rich dad and poor dad. It's a great book with a lot of insights.
Robert and Mike were good friends, Rich dad is the dad of Mike and Poor dad is the dad of Robert. Though both of them got lessons from rich dad, Mike got his asset column ready made from Rich dad. He just learned to keep it up. But Robert followed and implemented all the lessons of his rich dad. The practical lessons of rich dad to Robert and Mike from their childhood were demonstrated in the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert. I loved the book.

It is very important for us to identify what emotions we are dominated with. It may be from the list of positive emotions that give pleasure while experiencing love, joy, satisfaction, interest, contentment, gratitude etc.? Or it may be from the list of negative emotions that give unpleasant feelings while experiencing fear, hatred, anger, resentment, sadness, loneliness, annoyance etc.? We need to understand one important thing: sometimes the negative emotions encourage us to act accordingly, and help us grow and develop. We need to experience the negative emotion but not stay with it for a long time. It is here we need to make ourselves more intelligent in dealing with it. IS IT SO EASY TO overcome the negative emotions? No, It is difficult but not unachievable. Only when we start taking steps towards it, do we change our perception.
Some of you may be stuck with some of those negative emotions. If not dealt with, you go deeper into it and get hurt more. This is the best book to understand and deal positively with all our emotions.
Book 14 of #malvi21bookschallenge“The Art of Resilience” by Gauranga Das
The author narrates 40 stories to uplift the mind and transform the heart.
Do you feel that being resilient is very difficult? Not at all. Attempt, Start, Try. If I could, so could you all. It is very easy and once you experience the result of it, no one can stop you. Being resilient makes you more liberated, happy and peaceful. Also, you need to understand that being resilient to convert our adversities into strengths enhances our academic performance and success. Resilient individuals use positive emotions to rebound from stressful encounters and the maintenance of positive emotions during adversity provides mental and physical health benefits also.
